The sustainable procurement grew by 219 % in the first six months of 2012 , compared to the same period last year , according to the Ministry of Planning, Budget and Management (PBM ) . In the first half of this year , these purchases moved US$9 million , from US$ 2.73 million in 2011 . In comparison with 2010, the year of the implementation of government policy , the increase was 358 %. The electronic trading was bidding method most used by the federal government to purchase sustainable goods and services . In 2012 , this type accounted for 99.9 % of these acquisitions , totaling US$ 9 million.
Among the most sustainable products are purchased computer equipment such as desktop computers , with 55 % of purchases ( U.S. $ 10.1 million ) , and laptops , accounting for 15% The A4 paper presented an expense of $ 2.2 million ( 12 % ) .

Suppliers – Between 2010 and 2012 , the number of suppliers who participated in bidding sustainable grew 177 % . Decree consolidates preference for products with less environmental impact
The Presidential Decree 7746 , June 2012 , consolidates the Sustainable Procurement Program and growth trend of environmental concern , to establish guidelines as: production with less impact on natural resources and preference for materials , technologies and raw materials of local origin. In addition to more efficient use of natural resources, the policy provides greater employment generation , preferably with local labor.
The lifetime and the cost of maintaining the well and the work shall also be taken into account because all the rule provides for the optimization of life cycle , from production to disposal . The goal is to encourage the development of innovations that reduce the pressure on natural resources by purchasing power state .
