8th Edition of Campus Party brings together 10k participants in Brazil




      

Juca Ferreira, Minister of Culture, says the Campus Party is connected to Brazil´s future

Leading technology and pop and nerd culture event in Brazil, the Campus Party is being held in São Paulo (SP) between 3 and 8 February in Sao Paulo Expo center. During six days, lovers of digital technology and culture come together to address the various issues related to the Internet, gathering in large numbers of communities and users of the World Wide Web.

In its opening ceremony, the Minister of Culture of Brazil, Juca Ferreira, spoke highlighting the importance of the event for the country: “The Campus Party has a huge cultural importance to the 21st century culture – it´s related to connecting each one to networks and enable participation of many people. The magnitude of the event exceeds the amount of people and the quality of the internet”, according to the minister.

The world’s largest technology event expects 10,000 participants until the end of the weekend with about 700 hours of programming among lectures, business marathons and hackathons. The focus of the event will be entrepreneurship. The Campus Party emerged in Spain, where it was held at first in 1997, later extended to other countries like Brazil, Colombia and Mexico. Today is considered one of the major innovation events, science, creativity and digital entertainment worldwide.
